Essentials for Starting Online Piano Lessons:

  • Zoom: Our virtual classroom. You do not need to sign up for an account to join a lesson.

  • Acoustic piano or digital piano: Choose one with 88 touch-sensitive keys and a pedal for the best learning experience. Contact us for suggestions!

  • Reliable internet: High-speed internet is key! Connect your computer directly to your modem using an ethernet cable—or, if that's not an option, invest in a Wi-Fi booster to enhance connection quality. A strong connection means crisp audio and video during our lessons.

  • Device positioning: Use a computer or a newer iPad that can be easily placed near your piano. Your teacher needs to see the student’s hands on the keyboard and the student should be able to see the teacher.

Optional Upgrades for an Enhanced Experience:

  • USB microphone: Elevate audio clarity with a high-quality microphone. The Blue Yeti and Blue Snowball are excellent picks for online music lessons. Some external webcams have very good built-in microphones, too.

  • Speakers or headphones: External speakers boost audio quality and ensure you hear me clearly. If unavailable, earbuds, AirPods, or headphones are great alternatives.

  • External webcam: Upgrade to a high-definition webcam for optimal video quality. Models like the Logitech C910, C920, or C930 are top-notch choices for laptops. An external camera attached to a boom arm makes it easy for the teacher to see the student’s hands.
